The Toledo Jr/Sr High School was the site for the Lincoln County Football Jamboree. Three schools aside from Toledo participated: The Taft Tigers, Newport Cubs, and the Kennedy Trojans. For those of you who don’t know much about Kennedy, they are located in Mt. Angel and are a formidable 2A-2 Tri-River Conference school.
At 5 pm JV teams hit the field and spend the next hour testing out their plays and skills. None of these teams looked great and have plenty to work on before their first games.
At approximately 6:30 pm the varsity teams took the field. On the west end of the field were two teams and on the east end of the field were another two teams. All were playing at the same time.
It was an exciting event with plenty of fans from all schools in attendance.
I had a chance to see all four teams and I must say, I thought they all looked good considering it was only a jamboree. Obviously there are things that need to be addressed, mostly on the defensive side of the ball, but, I was impressed with all teams.
I wished the jamboree would have lasted another hour, but, alas, all good things must come to an end. After seeing these teams, I am very excited for the regular season to begin!
