January 4, 2017 Salem, OR – It was a cold night in Salem, OR and I was grateful to be in a warm gym that would get even hotter as the Chemeketa Storm (4-8) hosted the Portland Panthers (3-7) in a game that would see overtime.

The first half belong to the Panthers as the Storm had a tough time of the defensive side of the ball and were unable to hit from the three-point arch.  At the end of the first half Portland was up 46-32.

The Storm’s three-point shots found their mark in the second half but their defense had a difficult time preventing the Panthers’ inside game.

Both teams put on a good show for the crowd and at the end of regulation the game was tied at 87.

The quick pace that reigned over regulation play, continued into overtime but it would be Portland picking up the 108-106 win.
