Oct. 15, 2021 Newport, OR – The Cascade Cougars entered the away game against the Newport Cubs undefeated with an overall record of 6-0.  Cascade may have been a little over confident facing the struggling Cubs who were 0-6. After a nice drive Newport would get on the board first at the 10:26 and go up 7-0.  There was celebration from Cubs after scoring on one of the best teams in the 4A league.

The celebration was short lived as about three minutes later Cascade scored but missed the PAT.  With 5:26 left in the first quarter the Cubs had a small lead.

Newport would score 20 points to Cascade’s 14 in the first quarter.

But, the celebration was short lived.  Cascade woke up and took the lead going on to halftime 49-20.

In the second half it was all Cougars as they would win the game 72-27.

This was the best first quarter of play I have seen from the Cubs all year.  They should be proud of accumulating 27 points against such a strong Cascade team.

Cascade, aside from the first quarter, were well organized and it was like they had been playing together for an extended period of time
