Oct. 28, 2016 Willamina, OR – The first half was slow as far as points go at the Willamina stadium as the Bulldogs hosted the Sheridan Spartans for the last game of the 3A-2 West Valley League regular season.
It was a back and forth battle on a wet, sloppy field in the first quarter but the Bulldogs were able to find the end zone at the 7:34 mark. The point after attempt failed and no other points were put on the board and the first quarter ended with Willamina having a slight edge over Sheridan 6-0.
The second quarter was similar to the first. Plenty of good offensive drives but also several good defensive stops by both teams. The second quarter was scoreless and entering the half the Bulldogs still lead the Spartans 6-0.
The third quarter belonged to Willamina. The Bulldogs scored with 5:30 left in the third and then soon after picked up a safety. At the end of three, Willamina was up 15-0.
The Bulldogs’ momentum carried them throughout the fourth quarter and they took home the 28-0 win.
Willamina ended the regular season 4-5 overall and 2-4 in league play.
Sheridan ended the regular season 2-7 overall and 1-5 in league play.
