September 2, 2016 Salem, OR – This game was one built on defense. Both the visiting Regis Rams and the Blanchet Cavaliers defensive squads played tough, which was shown by the halftime 7-6 Regis lead in a game played at McCulloch Stadium.
The 7-6 score was finally broken with 6:05 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Cavaliers moved the ball well and were able to score not only the touchdown but also the extra point attempt giving them the 13-7 lead. However, their earlier failed extra point attempt would come back to haunt them.
With 1:04 left in the game, the Rams punched it in from two yards out. That touchdown along with the made extra point put them on top 14-13.
Blanchet’s hard fought effort to score one more time came up short and the Rams would pick up their first season win.
