September 12, 2019 Newport, OR – The Stayton Eagles traveled to the coast to face the Newport Cubs and took home the 4-2 league win.
In the first half Stayton was more aggressive than Newport and this lead to a 3-1 halftime lead. The second half was a little more evenly played. Newport stepped up their aggressive play and were able to prevent several shots on goal by the Eagles and scored a goal.
Both teams were a little tentative in the first half but seemed more relaxed and focused in the second. It should be an exciting year for both teams.
