February 1, 2017 Perrydale, OR – It was an exciting time in the 1A-2 Perrydale Pirates gym where they hosted the 2A-4 Toledo Boomers in a game that was one of the more exciting games I saw this year.
The first quarter was a little slow with both teams struggling to find the basket. At the end of the first quarter the Pirates (11-1, 16-3) held a small lead over the Boomers (7-0, 11-9) 10-6.
The intensity picked up in the second quarter and at the half Perrydale was up 25-24.
The third quarter proved to be a little more physical and going into the fourth Toledo was up 42-41.
In the fourth the battle continued. Each team was trading baskets. With a little under two minutes Perrydale had a three point lead, 55-52. They were able to hold off a surge by the Boomers and picked up the 64-61 non-league win.
